This design and build contract involved the provision of a new high quality multiplex cinema with retail units below. The new building includes the nine-screen multiplex Cinema on the first floor with a ground floor reception and seven ground floor retail units totalling 2633m2.
External works included construction of a new service yard, access roads, two substations, external paved areas, introduction of an acoustic fence, retaining wall and associated ancillary works including planting new trees, shrubs and installing planters and street furniture.
The development achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating. Sustainable technologies and waste monitoring on site is helping achieve the target of Excellent. 95% of waste was re-used or recycled on site.
The site was immediately adjacent to a Tesco supermarket and a leisure/community centre and had houses close by on two boundaries. Access for all adjacent stakeholders was maintained throughout the entire project. Deliveries were managed to minimise disruption to the service yard for the supermarket.
