We offer students from relevant disciplines the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through Summer and Industrial Placements.

Our summer placements are usually between 4 and 12 weeks (depending on candidate requirements).  Our industrial placements are typically 12 months’ duration and start/end dates are flexible.

These opportunities are available to students that are currently studying a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Building Services Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Support functions (e.g. Human Resources, Finance, Procurement etc.)

These placements will provide you with an outstanding introduction to the industry and you will gain an excellent insight into what a career working with a main contractor/profession discipline could look like.  You will gain invaluable on-site experience and everything you are learning at university will start to take shape.

We ensure your knowledge and skills are fully utilised and stretched by exposing you to live projects and by involving you in commercial and technical decisions. You will shadow and meet graduates and senior managers and learn from their experiences.

We view the placement experience as an extended interview for our graduate programme. Students are expected to demonstrate their passion and ability.  At the end of your placement we will ask for feedback from yourself and your managers with a view to continuing the relationship throughout the remainder of your degree studies.  Based on recommendations from your line manager, we may offer an individual guaranteed employment upon completion of your degree/course.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for students who relish a challenge and love getting stuck into solving problems. You should be a strong team player with commitment and enthusiasm.

You will be required to hold a full driving license and preferably have access to your own transport. You will also need to have the right to live and work within the UK (or the ability to obtain the appropriate visa/permit).

Application Process

Our undergraduate vacancies open in September/October each year and normally close at the end of February.  Successful candidates will be invited to attend an interview during April/May.
