The award recognises our innovative material recycling and re-use strategies on the Swansea Quadrant Interchange Groundworks project.
By processing and reusing materials excavated on site and cleverly coordinating deliveries we were able to save over 700 lorry movements which minimised the carbon footprint of the site and also reduced traffic and disruption to Swansea City Centre motorists and pedestrians.
In total over 18,000 tonnes of excavated material was diverted from landfill and either re-used on this site or others.
“We are delighted to have won the Waste Minimisation Award,” Russell Evans, director of Dawnus Construction, said. “Waste and sustainability are important issues in the construction industry, and as a company we are committed to improving our performance. We are very pleased to have had our efforts recognised, and we plan to use our experience on the Swansea Quadrant Interchange to achieve similar results on future projects.”
