Dawnus Construction

Pembrokeshire College Innovation Centre

The Pembrokeshire College Project is the 2008 Winner of the BREEAM Bespoke Award for Wales and the first further education building in England and Wales to achieve BREEAM Excellent rating.

This project involves the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a two storey1559m2 technology block designed with sustainability in mind.

Environmental features of the building include solar panels, rainwater harvesting, a wood pellet boiler, day and night movement control light fittings, naturally ventilated spaces and a building management system.   Renewable or low emission sources of energy will make up some 32% of the buildings energy requirements.  Measures to monitor performance in water, recycling and energy were in place throughout the construction process with the building scoring particularly highly on water saving initiatives such as infrared controlled taps and water shut of, a rainwater harvesting system and irrigation free landscaping. Work also includes extensive remodeling of the car park.

The site is located on the existing Pembrokeshire College main campus at Haverfordwest and undertaken within the fully operational educational campus.
