This ECI project under NEC Option C Conditions of Contract consisted of the reconstruction of 2 sections of failed embankment 400m apart on a road benched into the side slopes of a steeply sloping river valley.
Early Contractor Involvement enabled us to deliver a fully integrated project bringing together design and constructability.
We met the challenges of the physical and ecological constraints and produced a best value solution, achieving the Key Performance Indicator goals for cost, time and predictability.
By understanding the clients requirements and working in an ECI partnership we were able to produce an alternative scheme that met the design criteria and caused minimal environmental impact by removing the necessity for site clearance of the embankment slopes. The scheme allowed the works to be constructed without closing the road and causing undue inconvenience to the public.
