Street Child of Sierra Leone Support Initiatives
Dawnus have been supporting Street Child of Sierra Leone (ScoSL), a UK based charity working to reunite street children with their families and support them back into education. Our support to SCoSL this year has included:
Donation of £5,000 used to buy vehicle driven from London to Freetown
In March, 2 volunteers drove a Dawnus-sponsored vehicle from London to Freetown where it is now used by local staff to drive between projects, particularly in rural areas where transportation is a problem. This vehicle is now supporting SCoSL in the implementation and monitoring of their street children’s and rural schools projects.
Charity Shop extra, Rogbere
A converted container has become home to our very own Charity Shop extra, established and run by SCoSL. All profits from the shop go directly to finance ScoSL’s programmes for vulnerable children. Dawnus staff living in our Bere Junction camp can purchase essential toiletries and much missed items from home such as chocolate and Walkers crisps and know the money is going to a good cause!
Wiring of Charity Cafe Bar, Makeni
The Clubhouse Charity Café Bar was established to provide a sustainable source of income for SCoSL in Sierra Leone by providing a Western-style location for drinks and good food in Makeni. Our electricians undertook a complete re-wiring of the building prior to opening and all Dawnus employees living in Makeni will now be eating their evening meals there.
