Dawnus has been awarded the contract to deliver the new Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) and National Police Air Service (NPAS) Air Operations base at Almondsbury in South Gloucestershire.
GWAAC and NPAS need to relocate due to the redevelopment of the existing BAE Systems Airfield at Filton. The services operates in Bristol, north Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire and provides critical care to a population of over 2.1 million.
This Design and Build scheme is due to start on site in early November for completion in the summer of 2018. The new facility will house the GWAAC Helicopter and Police Helicopter Service in a new single-storey steel portal framed building which will include offices and welfare facilities. As part of the contract Dawnus will also construct external hardstanding with helicopter parking bays and car parking, a new 1km access road and the construction and installation of a new sub-station.
