The Dawnus South Wales team has been appointed as the main contractor for new build and improvement works for two primary school facilities at the new Tonypandy and Porth 3 - 16 schools. The two 21st Century School projects were awarded under the South and Mid Wales Collaborative Construction Framework by Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council in December 2016 and both started on site early January 2017.  

The £8m Tonypandy School project involves the construction of a new, two storey, BREEAM Excellent primary school building for 480 pupils, demolition of part of an existing 1970’s single storey building and partial refurbishment and remodelling of the existing secondary school. The works will also include associated external works including; soft and hard play areas, MUGA, car parking, flood attenuation, drainage and services. 

The £7.5m Porth School project involves demolition of an existing 1930’s building, 6th Form Blocks and Swimming Pool, the construction of a new, two storey, BREEAM Excellent primary school for 330 pupils and refurbishment to areas of the existing secondary school. The works will also include associated external works comprising; soft and hard play areas, car parking, flood attenuation, drainage and services. 

Dawnus are currently delivering three school contracts under the South West Wales Regional Contractors Framework, and have further extensive school and education building experience throughout Wales and the UK.
