Dawnus were appointed under a two-stage arrangement to develop the next phase of lodges at the Bluestone Resort in Pembrokeshire. Stage 1 comprised value engineering, design development to Stage D, construction planning and pricing. Stage 2 involved detailed design and construction of 65 new timber lodges including associated services and infrastructure.
Dawnus appointed an architect, building services consultant and engineer to develop the design under a Design and Build contract. The design was developed from the phase one design to include improvements to the lodge and site layout. Dawnus sought input throughout the stage one development from our local supply chain to advise on resources and construction durations.
We constructed three different types of eco-friendly lodges within the resort which blend sympathetically into the surrounding rural landscape. The lodges are of timber frame construction including timber floor cassette, timber cladding and timber roof shingles, and are finished to a high specification to meet the resort’s five-star credentials. Works were carried out adjacent to the existing resort and undertaken in a sympathetic and considerate way to minimise disruption to the resort users. The lodges were delivered in phases and handed over in accordance with agreed completion dates to suit busy holiday periods.
