The Coed Darcy development is situated near Junction 43 of the M4, between Swansea and Neath, on what was previously the BP Llandarcy Oil Refinery. The development comprised the construction of 56 residential units, which consist of a selection of apartments and houses ranging from two to four bedrooms.
The units themselves are predominantly timber framed construction and have a facing brick and stonework finish to the exterior. The apartments are of similar external appearance and are three-storeys high with basement construction. All dwellings were delivered to Secured by Design and BREEAM Ecohomes Excellent standards.
We also delivered new infrastructure to the whole of the site in the form of extensive retaining wall construction to the east of the site to terrace the existing slope for construction of the new units, together with piling, new drainage, service ducts, and carriageway construction throughout the development. Access has been taken from the tie in of two adjacent roads giving a west/east spine road through the development.
This project achieved the 2011 LABC Building Award (National Winner) for New Housing (more than 10 units).
