We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented Project Manager to lead our team working on a new build school project in Welshpool.
Reporting to a Contracts Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the project is planned and completed on time and within budget.
Experience of working on construction projects is essential. Experience of working on Educational schemes valued between £5 and £10 million is an advantage.
Take overall responsibility for all project matters including safety, health and environmental matters, design, quality, programme and financial performance.
Ensure delivery of project on time, safely and to budget through effective programme management.
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
Liaise with project stakeholders and client on an ongoing basis.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Ensure financial reporting and forecasting requirements are met by the project team and communicated to managers and Directors.
Provide technical assistance, i.e. interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc. as required.
Initiates and maintains extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Degree or HNC/HND qualified in a relevant technical discipline (essential).
Proven experience as a Project Manager working on construction schemes (preferably in the education sector).
Experience of extensive refurbishment of listed buildings.
Good understanding of commercial issues affecting project performance and experience in assessing value/evaluating variations of construction works undertaken.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and consistently deliver safe and efficient projects on time.
Experience in using programming software i.e. Microsoft Project and/or Asta Power Point.
Strong communication and organisation skills.
Ability to work in a team environment contributing across a business unit or area.
Good management skills with the ability to motivate self and others.
