Project Overview

This project was for the design and construction of enabling works on the Tremough University Campus, in Falmouth, to allow the next phase of campus development to proceed.

The contract included:

  • Upgrading and construction of paths, drives and roads, including surfacing
  • Construction of car parks totalling 350 spaces
  • Construction of waste management and handling compound
  • Constructing a new bus interchange consisting of 6 bus bays / stops
  • Construction and connection of a new electrical sub-station and removal of the existing electrical sub-station
  • Diversion of significant HV and LV cable infrastructure
  • Diversion of BT and communications infrastructure
  • Diversion of existing medium pressure gas services
  • Re-routing and/or replacement of water services and foul and storm water drainage systems
  • Extensive landscaping and shelter belt planting works

Environmental concerns on the project included bat activity; Dawnus redesigned the lighting to make it more bat-friendly, introducing bollards to bring lighting to a lower level.

Dawnus had to manage the works in an operational university campus environment throughout the project, including all service diversions and shut-downs, which had to be phased and implemented out of hours.
