Under this contract Dawnus improved and reconfigured Darlaston’s road infrastructure in four key locations as part of the overall regeneration strategy. The works were to ensure improved safety at the junctions for pedestrians, cyclists and motorised road users, to reduce queuing and to improve access to key employment sites.
We delivered works at four different areas of Walsall: Bentley Road South, Bentley Mill Way, Darlaston Road-Pleck Road Junction and Bescot Road-Wallows Lane Junction. The scheme included a large amount of on-line widening including dualling, constructing additional slip roads, additional approach lanes, larger pedestrian reservations and roundabout widening. The project won a 2015 British Safety Council International Safety Award, and was awarded the 2016 CIHT West Midlands Award for Best Large Highway and Transportation Project.
