This scheme was to construct a combined heat and power plant at the Dragon LNG facility in Milford Haven. Using excess natural gas from the vaporization process 50MW of energy is generated through gas and steam turbines; hot water is also generated to facilitate the vaporization process.
Dawnus’ scope of works was to construct all civil and building works including complex reinforced concrete structures for the new steam turbine hall and new electrical sub-station building. As lead contractor we were also closely involved in the planning for installation of mechanical equipment, pipework and electrical instrumentation.
The drainage system installed required specific resistance to heat and chemicals. As such a mechanical system using carbon steel pipework, flow meter pits including penstock valves and automated actuators and coated concrete chambers were constructed as part of the groundworks.
