As part of the Binnegar Quarry development Dawnus were awarded the contract for the site investigation and design and construction of an inert, steel framed and clad Materials Recycling Facility (MRF).
We were also responsible for the supervision of the process equipment installation and the construction of an external concrete manoeuvring area approximately 2270m2.
The MRF recycles up to 122,000 tonnes of waste annually and handles a range of materials including garden and organic kitchen products and dry recyclables such as paper, cans and plastic bottles.
The scope of work included mechanical and electrical design and installation; supply and installation of prefabricated welfare and office facilities; relocation and commissioning of a weighbridge from another site; surface water and foul water drainage; new utilities (water and electricity) connections; lighting and small power distribution externally; and construction of 20m of new access road.
The works also included the partial demolition of an existing steel frame clad with asbestos panelling which is situated at the former site of the weighbridge.
